What you should see in DevTools

✓ Application → Cookies: no Plausible cookie. 0 set
✓ Application → Local Storage: empty.
✓ Application → Session Storage: empty.
✓ Network → event: one POST to /api/event whose entire body is name, domain, url, referrer — no name, no email, no user ID, no IP.

Fire a test event

Click below, then watch the Network tab. You'll see the /api/event request appear — and the Cookies/Storage panels stay empty.

The 60-second walkthrough

Open this page in a fresh / incognito window with DevTools open.
Application tab → Cookies / Local Storage / Session Storage → all empty.
Network tab → filter event → reload → click the /api/event row → Payload. Four harmless fields.
For contrast, do the same on a site with the Meta Pixel: you'll see an _fbp cookie and an identifier sent to Facebook. That's the difference.
